desert trip to Mojave: discovered an abandoned water park, traversed the Kelso sand dunes and found beauty in the abandoned destruction that the desert lends itself to.
This September I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Guatemala with some of my best friends and it was truly magical. A land where the soil is as lush and the souls are some of the warmest I've ever felt; it was an experience to behold. We spent most of our time in Antigua, but we drove to Lake Atitlan for a few days and had the chance to visit a few of the lakeside towns as well. Some of the shots were taken on film and some were taken digitally. It was interesting to shoot on both mediums on this trip. Film shots were a little more planned out; less spontaneous in the sense that the shots themselves were more contrived. Since film is such a precious process, it was fun taking the time to really think about the shot before snapping it. I am so accustomed to shooting digitally (where I typically overshoot any given seen). With my digital camera, I was able to document instant moments that we were driving by at 50 mph without a chance to stop; with it's high speed, rapid release shutter, my digital camera served as a tool to capture and preserve seconds in time that will never quite be the same. Nonetheless, I invite you to enjoy them all.

I recently photographed some subjects for my very talented friend Nick Fadely. He's working on a beautiful series of abstract realistic paintings inspired by sexual identity. Nick wanted photographs to accurately render the subjects from his series, so one day he brought these lovely humans over (all except one I have never met until shooting them) and I had the opportunity to photograph them. It was fun to shoot portraits of people given the instruction "do YOU." I wanted to give you all a little preview of some of the shots we did-- these are some of the in-between moments that I captured and I think are share worthy. Smiles are most definitely contagious :)
